Here are the beginnings of a series based on Picasso’s work. I’m trying to really get under the skin of his work here, through drawing and painting. The drawing exposes the structure, the painting highlights just how little he cared for pleasantries and formal etiquette.

Picasso destroyed forms, he rebuilt forms, much like his relationships with women. If his current relationship was on the rocks, the images of the woman would become harsher, cruder, more vulgar.

In these works of mine, I’m juxtaposing consumer ‘beauty’ imagery with the formal pyrotechnics of Picasso – and at a superficial level, realism vs abstraction.
